Man Attempts Break-In at Benedict Cumberbatch Residence
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch and his family were left shaken after a former chef wielding a fish knife attempted to break into their home in England.
An international publication broke the news on Monday, 29 May, that “Jack Bissell kicked his way through an iron gate at the actor’s £3.5-million London house.”
The 46-year-old “Doctor Strange” star was at home with his wife, Sophie Hunter, and their three children when the intruder could be heard rampaging outside, as he prised the intercom off one wall after spitting on it, and threw a pot at another wall.
“I know you’ve moved here, I hope it burns down,” the 35-year-old allegedly said, along with a slew of other threats.
While it’s unclear exactly when the incident occurred, British police were able to track down the intruder using the DNA evidence he had left on the intercom.
Bissell reportedly admitted criminal damage on 10 May and, in turn, was fined £250 as well as handed a three-year restraining order preventing him from approaching the Cumberbatch family.
During the Wood Green Crown Court proceedings, the chef offered no defence so as to explain why he had targeted Cumberbatch and his family.
